On March 11, 2015, Doral Financial Corporation filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of title 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code (the “Bankruptcy Code”) in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. On November 25, 2015, Doral Properties, Inc. (collectively, with Doral Financial Corporation, the “Debtors”) also filed a voluntary petition with the Court for relief under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.

On August 10, 2016, the Court entered orders confirming the Amended Plan of Reorganization Proposed by Doral Financial Corporation and the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Doral Financial Corporation (the “DFC Plan”) and the Chapter 11 Plan of Liquidation for Doral Properties Inc. (the “DPI Plan,” and collectively, the “Plans”). The DFC Plan became Effective on October 28, 2016 (Docket No. 761). The DPI Plan became Effective on November 9, 2016 (Docket No. 768) and on December 29, 2016, the Court entered the Final Decree Closing Chapter 11 Case of Doral Properties, Inc. (Docket No. 814).

The DFC Plan called for the establishment of the Doral Financial Creditors’ Trust for the purpose of administering and liquidating the Creditors’ Trust Assets, reviewing and reconciling Claims, prosecuting and settling the Litigation Claims, and making distributions.
